Not gonna lie, with a disk brake conversion and an amc 360/401 a pacer would make a killer hatch. Too bad its absolutely hideous.

It may be terrible, but I always liked Pacers. I wouldn't mind one as long as it wasn't my DD.

It doesn't sound bad on paper though.

Double wishbone front suspension with rack and pinion steering coupled with a 258 cubic inch straight 6 or an optional v8.

They also have great visibilty.

The Pacer. It's delightfully 70's. I can see it being the star car of Three's Company.

I need to show my mom the part of that video regarding the early smog regs. My mom had a 74 hornet hatch in the mid-late 70s. She was very against me even looking at that eagle wagon because her hornet never ran right. Ive been trying to convince her it wasnt the car, it was the smog regulations. Maybe this video will finally convince her.

Car's from the 80s are not much better in terms of running right and are more fragile than ones from the 60s/70s.

Bypass the egr, take off the air pump, and block off the NOx stalk that leads to the vacuum advance and you will have a motor that runs good. Cutting off or replacing the early cats wouldn't hurt either.

My 79 Wagoneer had the emissions shit removed/bypassed and it still passed smog with empty cats and it had same motor you'd find in an amc.

It literally takes like like 5 minutes and all you need to do is plug the right vacuum lines.

End result is that you have a decently strong cast iron motor with a conservative tune. Cars from the 70s are not bad if you remove the shit that's wrong with them except for the interior—those will always suck in pretty much every way besides the luxo pillow-top seats.

Unlike cars from the 60s, cars from the 70s actually have updated suspensions and axles that are often better. The safety bumpers may be ugly, but they are pretty kick ass. I saw my sister's 75 cutlass destroy a new charger and it only needed a new tail light afterwards.

On my first day of 3D CAD Design class my professor used a Pacer as an example of a flawed design. I had no arguments
